I am about to buy a friends S4. Its mint and well taken care of. 58k miles for 23500. What common repairs, or major repairs should I expect and how
much do those repairs run? This is all considering i take good care of it. I have heard of engine, clutch, and coil pack issues. Can anyone enlighten me?

 

Well I was about to say just get an extended warranty but needs to be under 50k. I think you could find a lower mileage S4 out there for a bit more to be pre-certified. I bought mine for $25k with 41k miles with an extended until 115k. Because of this I havent really looked into common issues since I have a nice cushion. I know the reliability rating from Consumer Reports on 04's arnt too impressive.

 

I thought I'd get more responses than this but I guess maybe thats a good thing? I said screw it, bought the car and a warranty for 3600 directly from Audi.
