Default 2004 S4 shaking with check engine light on

Hi,

New to the website.

I was on highway and suddenly car started shaking and check engine light came on. Was able to drive home in that condition (less power).

Any idea? IS this something major and costly to fix?

Thanks

Hey i had the same problem the other day and i took the car to my local mechanic, he said it was the coil packs or something like that. When i called Beiner Audi to make an appointment i asked the lady if this sounded correct and she said quite possibly. When i gave her my VIN turns out theres an open recall on that part for my car 2005 a6 and i can go in and have them all replaced for free, so if i were u I would call audi of america and give them your vin and see if anything is open for your car, if not your local mechanic should be able to fix the problem for u quite easily.

Yeah you should be fine to drive to the dealer. I just got my car back today and all 6 coil packs were misfiring and had to be replaced (free of charge thanks to the recall) my baby is running fine now so that was defineately the problem.
