Default 2006 S4 Chips? Any information?

I just bought an 06 S4, auto with paddle shifters. I'd love to know if anyone has experience with the various performance chips. Some need to remove the computer, others just connect to 02 sensor etc. Also, does this void the warranty? Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks

There's Revo software that is just flashed onto your existing chip. You can buy a switcher that puts it back to stock so the warranty is not an issue. To be honest, it's not worth the money. The power gain is minimal. Go with DPs and a catback, or do some suspension work. I highly recommend a rear swaybar.

I don't know about the 02 sensor thing. That is more of a gimmick. I would look to a real tune.

The staple seems to be

JHM
REVO
APR

JHM has the biggest V8 line of products and following of people. I have a auto and im very happy with my JHM ECU

I have a 2001 S8, but same 4.2 engine as yours except 360 hp.

I tried a GIAC flash of the ECU (sent it to AWE Tuning to have this done, but any GIAC dealer can do it). However, my 0-100mph (0-161kph) time was EXACTLY the same. So I asked for a refund which they gave and restored the ECU to its stock spec. So I agree with Yesss4, don't bother. A Milltek or Supersprint cat-back exhaust will do more, I believe. If you install the downpipes too, that is where you really get a hp/torque gain.

Chipping is good on a turbocharged engine. If you really must have big horsepower gains, PES just introduced a G4 supercharger for the 4.2, but it will cost $6-8 thousand plus installation. However, the low pressure SC gives 460hp and the not yet released high pressure version will have more. Go here:

http://www.pes-tuning.com/

VF Engineering is also coming out with a supercharger for the 4.2

If you want to read a good Audi forum about supercharging go here:

Just keep in mind that superchargers have a whine to them when you are accelerating hard. Whether or not one likes this is up to the individual. I suggest listening to some YouTube vids.

The S8 is a completely different motor.

And the best money is spent on Dp's and the exhaust system first.
