Sorry for totally jacking this Evo thread.

Your stock bulbs are 4300k IIRC, 6k - 6.5k would be more than high enough to get the blue color without sacrifcing too much intensity (your still losing x% when compared to 4000k). Personally i wouldnt put bulbs above 5k in my car, but thats prefrence.

Any bulbs above 7k or so arent made for light output, they are made specifically for people who WANT the blue& purple color. Again, Less light on the road than stock just so you can get blue light.

A modification with decreased performance over stock, just to look "cool". IMO, thats the definition of rice.

Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that colour temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or Hid kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the colour temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a colour temperature of approx 14,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 12,000k, 14000k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual colour output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output.

Edited.

^? hmmm... i know the lower the k the more light output... my oems were on their way out and i just got some 8000ks cause i wanted the blue. its not like i cant see with them. the ones that are like 3200k or whatever ive seen and are ridiculously bright ha. i just like the 8000k and the blue.

i dont know what your saying im wrong about? maybe the "no, i dont think they do..." but when i said that i was refering to them looking like rice

oops sorry i though you said that higher k meant more light. I miss understood. I dont think it looks bad at all, the TT is alot more curvey than the B5's i think it helps.

The normal lights on my 2000 Saab were 10x brighter than whats on my S. Im debating upgrading to 55w HID's in the main housings and either putting the stock 35w HID's into the fogs, or getting a second 55w kit for the fogs. With higher wattage ballasts you really will get ALOT more lumens on the road. Still gotta go with something in the 4-5k range though for bulb temp.
