About to buy a 2000 S4, some questions.
I am currently on the market for a S4, found a nice clean 2000 one in my price range that is a 6speed.
Only issue with the car is 130K miles. What should I expect from the car at that kind of mileage?
What should I check before I pick it up? How does the suspension hold up on these cars? Do the turbo's last or are they going to be on their last legs?
I am confident in doing any repairs myself, I have previous experience with motor swaps and turbo charged vehicles.

Well since you have turbo experience and motor swap down, then if you're turbos do blow you'll be set. I'm at 150,000 miles and still on my stock turbos, Knock On Wood. Just make sure you warm up and cool them down properly. As you probably know adding boost hurts them a lot. Depending on poorly or gently the car was drivin in the past they may be good still, or may be on their way down. If they whine like a dentist drill then they're just about shot.
Mileage wise, I'm not sure how high they get. But I'm guessing that if it's taken care of you could reach well over 200,000 miles.
See if timing belt and water pump have been changed and when. Because usually you change them in 60,000 to 70,000 mile intervals. So you may be due for a replacement. Which isn't hard at all, just time consuming.
Suspension wise...The tie rod ends and control arms are a problem with B5 Audis, A4 or S4.
See if anything has been done to the tranny maybe?
I don't want to sound like a downer, because I'm not tryin to be. I love my S and wouldn't trade it for anything...well maybe an avant lol. I think with my luck so far, KOW, the enjoyment I get out of the car is well worth the money and labor I've put into it!
Good Luck!

saw the car today, drove 300 miles to see it. Great interior, drove nice, would of bought it, until i saw smoke coming from both turbos. Looks like both turbos are burning oil through the bearings. Sad because the car was real good, and was going for $8300
now i am waiting for my plane to take me home. I will keep on looking.

well since you're still on the look, try holding out for an 01.5 or an 02. they have some slight mechanical changes for the turbos and throttle body boot. plus they might have less milage. my car had 109k miles and needed a turbo replacement and the car was completely stock. yea the po didnt take care of it so its a money taker right now but i've already fixed a lot of things on her so shes doin much better now
