AC problems, sounds like its electrical
So I literally just picked up my car from the mech shopfor the timing belt change and as I was driving away i noticed that I would not stop sweating with the AC on full blast. So I drove it for a couple moremiles and still no cool air. So i turned back around and told him what was wrong. Long story short, I am going back tomorrow morning for them to fix it. This is what I have so far, we checked one connecter behind the drivers side headlight and he took a hard line wire fromone side of theconnectors to the battery and voila! the AC started working. So now he thinks the relay is probably shut of there is something that is not connected. He also tested each wire andthe right side (which was atteched the the hard line wire) carried a current, but the one on the left did not. I was wondering what you guys think so I can let him when I go back in tomorrow morning. thanks to all that help.
If you just had the TB job done, then a lot of the AC wires were unhooked. The whole front end comes off the car, over by the PS there are several electrical connections. Plus you move the AC condenser away, & it might have been unhooked.
Just have your Tech go over all the connections. It might also help to Vag-com it & see if there is any AC codes, that might tell you what is unplugged.

so i just took it for a drive and as i was driving i noticed the air bag is on now and when i parked and put the ebrake on and waited about 5 sec, the light went off. and as soon as i took of the ebrake it came back on again.
next your bumper will probably fall off. This sounds like an incompetent moron that did the work. The timing belt job isn't a big deal, any mechanic should have no problem with it.
