Airbox Reinstall Help!
Hey guys,
I just replaced the intake filter with a K&N and everything's pretty much gone smoothly (entire thing too less than 15 minutes), EXCEPT I can't get the last clip back onto the airbox. The clip is located in the rear (back right corner) and there is very litte wriggle room there for my fingers. I tried using a really long screwdriver to work it into place but I couldn't get enough leverage (spent over an hr trying to work it too...so I've definitely tried). Has anybody who replaced their filter run into this problem? How were you able to get it back in place? and lastly, does it matter if this clip is not on? It seems like the entire thing is pretty much airtight now.
Sometimes I wonder how mechanics can work in such a tight engine bay. It makes even the simplist of tasks nearly impossible (like clamping one clip!)

I would not run a K&N, the reason is, the oil in the filter can mess up the MAF.
The best way to get it all back in, is to remove the entire airbox, put in the filter, then replace the whole thing as a unit.

what should we do to get more air? should we just drill the air box to suck more? or go to a cone filter?

Really on a stock car, the filter will not really do anything. While cutting holes in the bottom of the airbox does help, again, don't expect anything with a stock car.
The airbox is not the restriction, the exhaust & DP's are.
Yea, I'm really doing this to replace to stock filter, which had been in there for 46k miles. I never heard of the oil messing up the MAF on the S4 (although I have heard of problems with MAF and the K&N oil with my old SE-R Spec V).
It seems to be a rarity though since quite a few people seem to use K&N as replacement filters w/o much problems. I did a search on the forum on K&N and did not find posting with problems. If you could provide some links, I would like to read about it. Thanks!

Ok, I did a search on MAF and found a thread on it. It seemed rather debatable, with some people saying its not a problem, and others saying it causes problems. I'm pretty much confused right now, but I do have a Hitachi MAF and I never had problem w/ the K&N oil in my last car.
