alcohol or water injection good or bad?
So my cars in the shop for ko4's and fueling and all that good stuff. I know that after that theres not much left to do unless you do a bulit block. I've been looking to see if I should do alcohol or water injection but i've heard its almost as bad for you car as nitrous. Does anybody have any info about this?
methanol is ok if tuned properly. i know a fellow alumni that runs a mitsu mirage sleeper had a 22hp gain at the wheels from running methanol. was at 292 hp and now is at 314, and is still running strong.
methanol is a proven way to gain HP in forced induction cars........when used properly. If your not going to invest the money into the right system (something that will inject a progressive amount that increases along with boost and WOT settings) Cooling mist makes a good kit but you HAVE TO tune it. Just dumping amounts of methanol into your motor will not give you hp. Methanol (as is used at 10% in the gas I use in my car @ sunoco) effectively raises the octane level to 94 and can do the same if injected into your engine, it can raise octane level AND cool your intake charge getting rid of A: your motor pulling timing due to octane B: obiterates heat soak, you will not get heat soak when running methanol injection
I have a buddy that ran it on a procharged trans am and swears by it, if your willing to invest 600+ into a decent system, Go for it!
