o man the new 335i is gonna spank. i am a huge BMW fan and follow them avidly among a few bimmer forums as well as a few mag subscriptions and club memberships. the thing that is gonna b nuts is how tuner friendly BMW is...... just you wait till dinan or ICS or even alpina get thier hands on this car! the new M3 is gonna have to work its butt off to keep up with a well tuned 335i. but in the end as im sure u fellas know an A4 may be tuned quicker then the S4 but it still doesnt carry the prestige of the S .

well...not so sure about that statement.. Some serious work needs to be done to the a4.. theyre similar in speeds.. there are a few a4's that are faster..but there are also a few s4's that are faster yet..

I've heard that there might not be much more one can get out of the turbos on the BMW (without replacing/upgradding them) - but that could just be heresay. Anyway the car will absolutly rock regardless.

As for an A4 being made to be faster then an S4 can...well perhaps...due to its lighter weight. I could see an A4 being able to be made to be faster in a drag race - with a huge f'in turbo...but I would question its day to day drivability as it would be mighty peaky with incredible turbo lag....and I could see an A4 with milder turbo upgrades but with major suspension tweaks being perhaps faster at the track....but in this case not delivering the on-demand torquey drivability of the S4. In either event its a major upgrade of some kind - not just a slight one...and much could be said for a honda civic or CRX or a little toyota or mazda or such...one could shoehorn big turbos and shave weight and beef up the suspension and make a monster - all depends on what you are willing to do and how much you want to spend - with the sky as the limit anything is possible with nearly any car. I have a neighbor for instance who bought my old 1st gen Supercharged MR2 from me and is planning to upgrade the suspension and driveshaft and instal a turbo on top of the existing Supercharger - he claims he can easily get 300-400hp out of it and that it will handle like a champ. He plans to both drag and autocross it! It was already a very quick car at 150hp...I can only imagine at 300+ with superfat grippy tires in the back with the engine weight to hold them down (at least a bit...)...!

They still don't have any of these at my local dealer yet. I drove a 3series last month, and the guy said he would call me when the 335 comes in. I doubt a salesman would forget to do that unless they had their entire allotment sold already - which seems unlikely. I would hope that it is more exciting than the 325 I test drove.

I DROVE ONE. yay for me

we went up to the local dealership here in tallahassee, fl. they only had an auto. its a nice car. exterior is bland, interior is nice as crap. im only 20, but went you ride clean whips they dont ask questions when you want to drive something. so the sales guy drove for the first 4-5 miles. this was the longest test drive ever, like 20 miles. i got in, turn the traction control off and when to town. the sales guy grabbed the seat bolster (which by the way adujust to wrap around you) and the o-**** handle. i ripped the car off the line, went through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and said fucked and went through 4th also. the auto tranny kinda jerks a little. gears are pretty short. i remeber leaving third just over 100mph. car feels really strong off the line, but lacks in mid range power. its like wow, torque now when is the boost gonna kick in... sorta thing. but it will put you in your seat.

conversation in the car. after running 4th out.

my frined in back seat " this is a 35mph street, and its raining."

me -" i wont get a ticket, i keep it real, besides he would have to catch me in this traffic"

sales guy holding o **** handle and bolster "theres a difference between getting a ticket and dying!!"

lol 335 owned with 200 miles.

Thats the only reason I would not buy this car. After having AWD I really wont every buy a car that doesn't. Now if they come out with a 335ix, I'd def. have to think hard. I'm sure the top speeds etc. would be slower because of weight, but, generally, is awd vs. rwd faster or slower because of traction, weight, powerloss etc.?
