Hello Audi forum!

So it seems that we now need a second car and I have always had a hankering for a fast Audi.

A reputable maindealer in Abu Dhabi ( I live in Dubai) has a Magic Blue 2001 S8 with only 44000Km on the clock, complete service history and dealers 12 month warranty.

I am going to go take it for a drive on Saturday and go through the history with a fine toothcomb, but it seems like a good buy to me!

The price in Dhs is 99000, which is 13500 pounds stirling or circa $26000 at current rates.

So - does this seem like a good value buy?

Are there any major pitfalls I should be aware of or points to note when I check the thing and test drive it?

Should I just ignore the S8 and go for the Silver 2001 W12 in stock instead?

The car in the Middle East still does not have a brand reputation of a BMW or Mercedes. Having said that, you are getting a great. Low mileage and a year's extra warrenty. Price seems pretty good also. Was the car previously owned by a Prince?

Going for the W12 will put up your servicing costs. If you plan on keeping your S8 for a few years, I would stick to it rather than the W12.

Wouldn't suprise me - they have a whole bunch of high end Audis with very low mileage on them at this garage.
They buy a new toy, get bored and move on to the next one!

This is what I suspected. I would look to hold on to it for at least 24 months - maybe a bit longer. I think with that mutch power, you are better off getting something with the sportier suspension etc too - I believe the W12 is a stock A8 in every respect, bar the engine.
