Which is the better transmission for the B5? What can take more abuse/power and which one will last longer? THanks.

If you know how to drive a manual very well (as long as your driving skills aren't to blame), then I'd say the manual, but they are both strong tranny's.

Manual. It can handle more power and is easier to modify.

u can but it automatically does it for u going from 1st to 2nd. and i personally think its not the same. I use tip on my dads benz and when i tell it to shift when i want. It doesnt. I just like straight manual

I thought i noticed that when i was driving a tip S4 the other day. so is there any way to over ride that? Are you able to redline in 1st with the tip?
