im looking at a stick S4 vs a automatic S4 which is better and will work well with mods i luv to drive stick because of the TQ of the car but how far can u take both cars will the auto take the same damage as a stick will

 

Basically the manual is a faster car. You cant launch properly with the tiptronic. However you can go stage 3 (K04) and keep the stock tip transmission in the b5, its the torque converter i believe that eventually goes due to heat and stress. In a manual transmission once you go stage 3 you really need to look at a new clutch unless its driven extremely lightly haha like not ever launched, K04's will eat a stock clutch. But with a manual transmission you have some perks like you can get a shortshifter, ability to launch, funner to drive (IMO). Either way a Drive Train Stabalizer is a nice little add on, as are transmission mounts.

both types are fine. i drive a stage three tiptronic and while its not as fast as many stage 3 manuals...is by no means slow. youll need to replace the torque converterlike you need to replace a clutch on a manual. other than that anything is possible. with an upgraded torque converter youll have the ability to launch the car with a brake boost. i have an upgraded TC and can successfully lose traction with with a good launch. also with a manual there are possible errors you can make that can damage the engine/transmission. burning/glazing the clutch and missing shifts arent possible with an automatic and also downshifting into a gear than can ruin the engine isnt possible. just my opinion. if i could do it again id probably get a tiptronic but they are both with their perks.

 

dont have an s4 but i would definitly buy the stick... all around more fun to drive and you will probably enjoy it more... how is your commute though? trafficy?
