Default AWE intercooler.

the awe cooler sys for the b5 s4 has been shown to give 31 tq 28hp gain at the crank, but the dyno test is on a RSK04 fitted car and then another rsk04 but with the awe cooler, my question is can this large gain also be expected in a chipped (with other minor mods) s4 b5 or does this intercooler take advantage of a heat problem when upgrading to those massive turbos?

You will see a def. gain in performance when adding an intercooler. A 31 tq and 28hp gain IDK about.

This is based upon your current CHP(crank horsepower) / torque how much the increase will be. Less horsepower less gain... You will still notice the car cooling well and prob notice a little performance aswell. I would say I notice every bit when I put the intercooler on with the stage with.

there is a equation I believe on the AWE site about how the increase are with your current HP.

nice thank you guys for the info !
I was thinking doing that intercooler instead of a borla cat back exhaust, even though yes it cost more, it would also help with the longevity of the engine which is something the exhaust dosent really do

for the most part you wont notice a huge gain, what you will notice is your car doesn't die after repeated hard driving in one sitting.

as we all know heat is the enemy of engines, and after a hard pull in your car, it is dying for cold air, which your small OE side mounts can't supply. However the aftermarket intercoolers are able to cool more efficiently.

yeah I expect that. However, can the gain from the awe intercooler be compare or even beat the gain from a simple cat back such as borlas? because i rather get the intercooler if the same gain in power can be found, just so i can keep the engine a bit cooler, maybe stave of at least 1 day from engine or turbo death lmao

i would get the intercoolers first if you are lookin for slight hp gains and if you drive hard. You wont have that great sound though. Get an AWE Twin 1 when you do get your exhaust

you really wont get hp gains from when i got my smic, you just dont get heat soak s you get the same runs over and over again with out hp loss.

Move to Colorado. In January when it's -10 degrees, you'll have a nice cool air charge regardless of your ICs
