I am sort of new to this fourm, but not new to audi's. When i was 16 i bought my first s4. It was a 2000 2.7t black s4 and i loved it. after having it for 5 months, the trans went bad and my insurance said it would be too much to fix, so they gave me more money than i paid for it. After a coouple of years of saving money, i want to buy another 1. looking around tho, the B5's have tons of miles, and what i really would like to know is what are the pros and cons of the B6 s4. What would be a better buy?? from what i understand the 2000 s4 weighs only 300 less then the 2004 s4. not much weight difference, but just let me know some ideas for which is a better choice, because im planing to tune the one i buy.

If you want to tune it you want a b5 hands down. Dont expect much from the b6, a full exhaust and a chip is about all your going to be doing to it.

advice on a b5: search the forums theres plenty of posts about what to speciffically look for. Low milage cars are out there and are worth the extra money. Look around and dont buy the first one you see because theres going to be a better one out there.

 

I could be wrong but I believe the B5 is more tuneable and gets better mpg.

I didnt think insurance companies covered stuff like transmissions?

 

Yeah they are right, get the B5, you can do so much more to it. Im pretty sure its more than 300 pounds lighter, I could be wrong though. The V8 is pointless imo.

 

thanks guys, ive allways was leaning towards a B5 but this just helps out alot. the b6 just seems bigger and for some reason slower, i found out that just chipping a B5 makes it faster than a stock B6 so thanks alot.

 

ya, it's up to you. drive a b6.. then drive a stock s4, stage 2 s4, then a stage 3 s4 (that's for sale, if u can find them all around yr area) . You can mod a b6 with a supercharger.. but its like 2-3 times more expensive. I think the biturbo is much better.. but that my opinion. I can't wait to go stage 3 with my b5.. but give me a few years- unkless the turbos go.
