I was just browsing auto trader looking at these fine machines. I noticed that the couple avants I saw with 6 speed tranny and v6turbo were listed as 2002. I thought that 02 was b6 v8 platform?

 

according to my understanding, the b5 merged into the b6 midway through the 2002 year. which is why you see some people list their s4's as 2002.5 to distinguish that they have the b5 model. let me know if i'm mistaken, but i'm sure this is correct. hopefully this answers your question

Are you talking euro spec? in US, there was 2002... no 03..and b6 started in 04

well like i said.. i think there are 03 s4's in europe.. but im not positive. But i know for sure b6 started in 04 and teh last b5s were produced in 02. I have one of the latter production b5 models. granted not avant..but no different

try doign a seach on autotrader or something... should give the answer.

 

I was looking at US. b5 manual avants. It just seemed like most of the ones listed on autotrader that were 2001 had tips and those that had 2002 had manuals. Didn't know if there was a reason.

Either way it is a rare car in the states and 1/2 of them i found were imola yellow.

 

B6 A4's started in 2002. However, the S4's in 2002 were still B5's. The B6 S4 came along the folling year.

 

ahh good point.... a4 did start earlier..that could be what youre thinking of.
