B5 vs B6
I'm in the market for an S4. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a decent B5 S4 in the NY/NJ/CT area. Most either have a lot of miles on them, been in an accident, or are snatched up before I am even able to place a call to the dealer.
However, most dealers have an expansive inventory of B6 S4's. I know the engine are different, but what other subtle differences can be found between the two of them...
Which would you suggest I go after....

I was in the same boat as you. I figured that if i picked up a b5 instead of the b6 that i could put at least 15k in the b5 and have one sick wagon for the same amount.
I picked up my 02 with 38k for 20 G's but i had to wait about 6 mounths to find the avant and it and it was 300 miles away. When i was looking for it i lived in northern NJ and there was not much except riverside audi. Every once in a while i would see some nice ones at paul miller. Good luck with your choice, they are both very fun sleepers.

Biener and Riverside constantly have S4's on their lot. At the present time, Biener has one that I would love to get my hands on. Unfortunately, the stupid biatch that is in charge of the used cars never calls me back after repeated voicemails and messages. She did the same to me last year. I don't like that Tulley girl one ******* bit. I've told her on numerous occassions that I was ready to place a deposit on the car and I'd appreciate a call to let me know if I should keep my hopes up. Riverside has another in Nogaro Blue. Unfortunately, that one was in an accident and sufferred frame damage. I won't be touching that car....
I suppose patience is key...

i wouldnt say that.. have you actually driven a b6 or been in one.. The interior is 10x waht the b5 is... But the b5 is 10x the tunability the b6 is.... I guess it comes down to what your priority in the car is/will be. Do you want to tune it a bunch..or just a little... I think the b6 is more stylish.. but the b5 can be more fun.. Trust me, i was in the same boat a year ago. But also, dont be afraid to expand your search to beyond the tri-state area (even though i thought that was like s4 central) You can always fly and get a car and drive it back...relatively not that expensive.
