So first off this is my first post so i apologize ahead of time. But I just purchased my very first Audi and I love it. It is a light blue 2005.5 B7 body S4 (Triptronic) with black on black interior with navi. I love this car. Anyways I noticed that my grill was grey and I decided to buy a black grill with the chrome ring around it. My idea was to paint the Chrome ring the same red as the S emblem to just simply set my S4 apart. Any ideas? So again this would be a black grillwith the License plate fill panel and the Chrome external ring painted red. Let me know if you guys think this will look cool. I will post pics soon. Thanks

 

Welcome to the forum. I have the same exact model and love it. To be honest, that doesn't sound like it would look very good to me. Also, I'd think painted chrome would chip pretty easy. Maybe try throwing some red tape on it to see what it would look like first?

 

is it real chrome, or just chromed plastic. the B5 is just plastic, so if thats the case, sand it then paint, then clear coat. then you wont have chipping issues

 

Yea, I talked to my buddy who owns a paint shop, he would be doing all the work and he said that as long as it is prepped right and cleared over it would be as strong as the crome maybe stronger. I just want to do something different. And since I have both grills I could always go back to stock. The new grill comes on friday so I hope to have everything painted and on the car by next week.
