Default B7 S4 wheel size question

Hey guys,

I am looking for a winter wheel set up for my 2005.5 S4. I have the 18X8 5 spoke alloys on now and I like them, but 18" snow tires are like twice the price of 17" (and bigger isnt better in the snow), so I was thinking of getting some used 17" rims and slaping some sticky 235/45/17 winter rubber on them instead.

What I have found though is that stock S4/A4 wheels from earlier models have a 5X100 bolt patttern and mine are 5X112. Also the depth of the rim (7.5 vs. 8") makes me wonder about the clearance issues.

So...can I use an 17" Avus style rim from say a 2001 S4 or am I asking for fit issues ?
Does anyone have any suggestions on a 17 inch rim that will fit and is readily available used.

I was looking at these, but I don't think they will fit based on the bolt pattern difference.....but then again, I don't know crap about wheels except how to curb them out (which this guy already did for me)

thanks for any help. - B

Default RE: B7 S4 wheel size question

New Dunlop D3's on my existing 18 inch rims are working just fine. Gotta love blowing past everyone on the snow and ice. tirerack.com rocks.
