i just got my 2001 s4 automatic i was wondering what the best chip would be for it and where to get it thanx a lot>>

 

like a stage one? no other mods being done? best bet would be to get a custom tune from someone like EPL or Vast. if you want something over the counter and generic go with APR, MTM, or GIAC.

 

I have a REVO chip in mine, it is absolutely wicked, the only other mod i have is piggie down pipes and the thing spits out about 330whp up from 260 stock

 

on a budget, just go to the classifieds and buy the first k03 tune you see within your budget... they(apr, giac, most other off the shelf tunes) all run about 14 psi boost... some spike a little higher 16 to 18 psi, but they are all pretty much the same. you can probably find one for $300 to $400.
if money is no object then do a custom tune with meth.
i would opt for an of the shelf tune since you will find yourself wanting to get bigger turbos and more power, you won't get your money back on a custom tune. then you can sell your stage 1 ecu to fund your stage 3 build.

 

i agree, with just k03's, try and find a used GIAC ecu, or even an APR, as they work well with using the cruise stalk to change the tune on the fly. then when you go 605's or larger, get a custom tune from EPL (my favorite ) or VAST..

 

What do you guys think of AMS?

 

its on par with the other over the counter tunes. its probably a little more aggressive since its compared to the abt ecu. you dont see to many of either of those ecu's around anymore.
