It fully depends on how you treat it (most of the time). You mod the **** out of it and drive crazy--the car can eat your wallet alive. If you maintain and treat the car as it should be--then ur fine. I'd just say get 3-4k aside. What's so bad about having to do an upgrade to K04's if your K03's go?? Besides the money [>:] it's a ridiculous upgrade.

 

My girlfriend has a 1999 e46 323i, i drive it almost as much as my car and i have to say that i prefer the feel of mine a lot... the front of the car is much roomier and the peddles arent as touchy and the steering is light but firm.. my car is also a lot quieter at low revs cuz it doesnt have the timing chain. I can easily hold with her car through the twisties and we are pretty even in a straight line.. treat the audi well and it will be pretty reliable, find problems before you need them fixed

 

Check out the BBC Top gear episod where they test the S4 vs the M3. M3 is faster 0-60 but the S4 was faster on the track. That was on a dry track. Just add a little rain and the M3 is gone....

They didnt really test the 0-60..but ran a 1/4 i think... the m3 had it by about a car length..but on the track the s4 had the M by about 2-3 secs.

keeping on topic bmw vs s4, you guys got any opinions on the bmw 330xi which is the awd version? which one would you go for comparing the 2001 s4 and the 2001 330xi?

 

I would still go S4 over 330ix. The S4 will still perfrom better out of the box and has better potential.
