Default Boost.

I just purchased an '01 S4. It's chipped but i'm only getting about 11psi boost. It still has the Stock DV's on. Would new ones make a big difference?

stock boost is around 10 psi, so it sounds like your DVs are fine for now...never hurts to upgrade those however, they are prone to fractures in the cheapo diaphram they have in them.

Iv allways heard stock is more like 7-8 PSI and a chip should give you like 14-16 psi. You might have a boost leak somewhere. if your DV's are torn that could be the issue, especially because your car is chipped. Check your throttle body boot too.

Not calling you or the previous owner a liar but maybe it isn't chipped. Did he/she tell you what brand it was? Anyhow if it is, check for boost leaks just like everybody else will tell you. You can buy a leak tester from AWE for relatively cheap or you can make one fom their instructions here http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf/...ure_tester.pdf

He actually gave me the stock ecu also and i opened both of them up and it is chipped. Its not the flashed, but the soldiered kind. Do the newer flashed ones produce just as much boost?

First off, what "chip" do you have? there are some that are low boost, & you might have something like APR/GIAC, that lets you turn the "chip" on & off.

If you think you are not getting the boost you need, you GOT to log block 115 with Vag-com, this will tell you what boost the car wants, vs, what boost you are running.
