BOOST CONTROLLER
hello everyone i know you guys will start yelling at me about this one....
But im just wondering becuase im going to get my GIAC chip on friday.... and my car will be running at 25pSI...
but if i hooked up a boost controller can i DECREASE the psi... soo i can run like a stock 15 PSI....
so i can prolong the life of my turbos... soo i don;t always use 25psi unless im racing? and then like 15-20 for regular street driving
instead of like a flash changer.

Stock boost is about 7-9psi, chipped is around 13-15psi, I think. (Chipped guys chime in here).
I know that doesn't answer your question, but I thought I might clear that up.
Like APG was suggesting, GIAC offers a flash loader where you can buy multiple programs. The stock program is only $50 according to the website, and the chipped program is the same as the regular ECU chipping.

Yep, even APR offers a way to switch programs on the fly using your cruise control stalk.

that's weird... i have the GIAC chip and im running around 15psi off the pump gas program. it's around 9psi off the stock program & i thought it's only 25psi when you turn on the race program? and btw u should only use that on 100+ octane.
I may have this wrong, but I thought that various chip programs could be set up in any number of ways. Octane and boost are not necessarily tied together. For instance, you could run 15psi boost on 89, 93, or race gas by just setting up your program to the proper octane and 15psi. You don't have to be on a certain octane to run a certain boost. You just need your program set up for the octane/boost numbers that you want to run - and this will help avoid detonation problems, etc.
Im not sure about that Cameron cuase i have the AWE vented Boost gauge... and my car is not chipped i did not do anything to the turbos either... and it runs are 15psi.. when im in redline its at 15
I have been searching ALLL over the internet about the GIAC chip and it says that the car will run about 25 psi...
but you never know .... some people are liars...
When i get the chip today... ill check on my gauge to see how much PSI i get..
Hopefully 25 hahaha

I can get anywhere from 17-20 PSI (peak) on the GIACX program. When I had APR it was more like 16-18PSI and when I ran the APR in stock mode it seemed like around 12-14 PSI (but don't quote me...its just what I recall and I may be a bit off regarding the APR #s)
