So i recently got my boost gauge installed with the help of some people and on the T fitting tubing on one of my hoses ripped. So i cut some of the excess tubing from the awe boost gauge that they awe supplied me with and zip tied that back on, everything seems to be in working order, im just a little confused as to how much boost, stock is running?

I have a tip and when i floor the car the boost gauge stays around 10, and then when it shifts drops to about 6-8 and then goes back up around 10 again. Is that normal?

Also when i get into the higher rpm's the boost level drops to about 6-8 and when the car shifts it does that also. Is that normal?

 

stock boost is about 8-10 PSI so that sounds right on.

When you take your foot off the throttle and push in the clutch to shift (or whatever same in an automatic) your diverter valves open and recirculate the air into the upper intake hoses so your turbos keep spinning with out compressor shock, all at the expense of a little boost. So when you shift and it drops a little, completely normal.

Also as you approach redline boost tends to taper off a little. Again completely normal.

With your GIAC chip you should spike around 17-18 psi somewhere and then taper off a little by redline.

I just ordered an AWE boost gauge, its in the mail along with some of their billett aluminum pedal covers. How was the install? Pretty easy?

 

I have a TIP as well. HP addict is right about stock boost being right where it should. My GIAC chip on PUMP setting tops out at about 15 psi. I havent tried the RACE setting since I put in the boost gauge.

 

what gas do you use? Id think GIACx, even if its not the 100+oct file, should be higher than 15 psi...

 

Yeah the awe boost gauge is really easy to install (with 2 people). The hardest part i beleive was the drilling.
