Default Boost Leak? (pictures included)

My s4 used to push me back against the seat while accelerating on first gear (when I got the car - a month ago). I do not have a boost gauge installed yet. I have noticed that this does not happen anymore (maybe, I just got used to the way the car runs… but maybe I have a boost leak). I read in past posts that first gear does not have a lot of boost anyways… the real boost comes with the higher gears.

Today, I found this:

“There is also a good chance that your DV's are leaking under high boost. if there stock, I would just say they are leaking, & replace them with 710N DV's.” by 2k S4 https://www.audiforums.com/m_484825/tm.htm

So, I decided to check my stock DVs. There is a hose between the DVs which may be cracked (look at the images below). Can this hose be replaced with regular rubber hose?

Thanks ChumbaWumba. Could the boost problem be caused by this little hose?

i had a similar problem, obvious tear near the DV joint. Went to NAPA, got 5.5inches of 5/32 vacuum tube, and replace, its a real tight fit, so no need for clamps.
