BREAK IN CLUTCH ...CAN I JUST TAKE A 500MILE TRIP
As long asyou go somewhere that you aren't on a highway the entire time so that it seats properly.
They usuallyrequire a 400 to 500 mile break-in period with lots of city (stop and go) driving beforeyou're allowed to shift under high load/rpm.
The slight slipping on a take-off helps to mate the friction with the flywheel surface.
Just like anything else in life, patience is a virtue. It will pay in the end.
oh yeah and....stop yelling
Yeah exactly...sometimes I almost think they should advise 200 (or pick a number haha) smooth engagements and no full throttle as a break-in moreso than just mileage.
If you are straight highway running then i'd say just ensure no heavy throttle and write off the 500 miles and THEN break it in after that.
The whole point is to be gentle toavoid ruining the flywheel or clutch disc, just bear that in mind and you'll be fine.

i often wonder how much of a break in you really really need... I know guys that build race cars, ones you can't drive on the street, and when they race it, they sure as hell don't wussy it for 500 miles, they slam, jam, pop, you name it... but then again, if it breaks, it's not their daily driver.
I got a lwfw and RS4 clutch put on in November at Status Auto in NH. I asked how long the break period should be (expecting +/- 500 miles) and was told that it dosnt really matter I just shoudlnt beat on it all the way home....
Yea clutch pfft 500 to be safe i guess? but im guessing after a good 20 stops from 0 and shifting normaly through gears the clutch should be good to go, Also downshifting helps the break in process alot
according to AWE, their stage 2 and 3 kits require 1000 miles of break in period, in which you should avoid hitting boost, because it causes the engine to race...
