Many people here, including myself will just say "Go Manual".

So, "Go Manual"

Plus, the car just feels better that way.

MANUAL! why get a SPORT sedan in auto/tip(no offense to anyone, my own opinion), dont even know why audi made the option for an S car.

Tip, is like no point. you press the clutch, you shift presice. tip is all delayed. drev500 ir right, you get an s4 manual. expierence the drive, feel the road, take control.

hahaha. except that tip shifting is fast.

I bought my 04 S4 in tip on purpose. I have a 350Z so I didn't want another standard car. Just a fast Sedan which the S4 does a superb job at being. It's not a sports car however.

The tip is great for a daily driver and uber fast as well. It's practically as fast in a straight line as my 350z is. Cornering, not even close, but straight line is damn good. Thats all I was really after. My wife enjoys standard as well (she loves beating the 350) , but prefers the S4 in tippy too.

If it was my only car I would have got a manual, but as a second car which is a daily driver for me Auto was the choice. It's a car I use to do business in and go to meetings in. I have business associates in the car with me etc.. Standard would just not be a good choice for me for the cars purpose.

I love the car in tip and would highly recommend it that way to anybody also in a similar situation to mine.

Ok ok, i hear that. Never drivin a tip B6 S4, I have however drivin a tip B7 A4 i prsnly didn't enjoy it AS much. I know were your coming from with the 2 cars we have a tip or whatever benz calls it 06 c280 4matic, gf's but she WON'T learn how to drive stick. whenever i drive her car i dont even use the tip option because it anoys the hell out of me. i know completely diff. car and i do believe audi has the upper hand in preformance. what i stated before, is my opinion about the whole tip vs. man. i would spring for the manual. in the end he is going to get whatever he is most comfy with. either way GREAT car.

roman_pushkin when it comes to asking wich is better please go test drive both see what YOU think is better, you cant make a bad choice!

Honestly it doesn't even need the tip option. It has D (drive) and S (Sport) as well. When in sport the shifting is fast and harsh and right at redline. It's plenty to have all the fun out of the engine.

I honestly believe this car wouldn't be noticeably faster in manual. More fun yes, but faster, I doubt it.

I would go as far to say that in the 1/4 mile (unless you are a pro launcher of AWD) the Auto will be faster. I dragged my AWD Talon TSI with 425whp probably 300 time a year well into the 11's. It took me a LONG time to get fast out of the hole. My best 60 ft was 1.68 in a 3100lbs car with driver. Thats REALLY FAST 60 foot for those of you who don't know. Stock Auto's are doing 1.85-1.90 60fts which is amazing. Would need some serious seat time to get the clutch slip down well enough to beat that...

The manual is faster than the tip. Audi even says so themselves. The tip is .3 seconds slower to 60 than the manual and .2 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile if you want get technical. Given thats with some perfect shifts. http://www.audiworld.com/model/s4/04/s4sedan.pdf

Manual > Tip
