Default Buying an S4 B5 (Think I Found It) Need Feedback!

I found one I may buy. It is a 2001.5 S4 B5 w/ ~60K miles on it. This is my first Audi so I am not keen on what to look for. What is a good price for an Audi of this type? I am going to test drive it next weekend, and I need to know what to look for, to make sure I haven't bought a piece of ****. Common problems, tell-tale signs of abuse, neglect, etc.; Please help me out! Thank you all in advance!

Umm..Just to start this off so it doesnt get lost and maybe someone with more knowledge can add soem in and finsih this up.

Well you sure know how to pick them you got the latest year with that motor a great car and 60k is a relatively low mileage great car. There shouldnt be much wrong with the car. Especially if it was adult owned, or atleast a civilized adult. The first thing i would do is get the VIN# before i even go there to drive it and get the records from a local audi dealer and maybe even do a carfax search on it. Now if anythign alarming comes up go there if it is not to far out of the way and ask teh guy a question about it if he lies I would stay away from the car right away who knows what else he may not be reporting. But when you get there look the car over from teh outside just look to make sure everything lines up and not to overlook anything you dont want to buy a car that is already looking bad. When you get in to drive the car if ti is a manual you should know what to expect of how a car should feel when teh clutch engages. Run through all the gears i dont mean do 145mph and get a ticket but if you get a chance do like 90 it should feel like nothing for this car. Now you may want to be careful when you do this but give it some gas from 1-3 if the car is bogging and there is odd noises even from a turbo'd all wheele drive car I would be a little hesitant about the car. Unless your launching you shouldnt be getting any skipping really. Also there should be a lot of torque in the lower RPMs dying out as you reach the end of teh gears, if there isn't you may ahve a problem. Check for the obvious things like oil leaks, smells under the hood, creaks and swaying if your driving, a pull on the wheele, all these things are bad. Though the oil leaks are near impossible to keep 100% away from this car i mean with the turbos at least. Ask the guy a lot of questions about the engine and the service. Just to check you records and run the show like your in charge not him and usually if teh deal is to good to be true than it usually is. I would expect to pay 15-17k for that car maybe higher if the car was prestine and i just love this car anyway. Hope it goes well sorry for making this the longest post ever im bored and a fast typer.

Thank you so much; I greatly appreciate your insite. Unfortunately he sold the car yesterday and he had said some guy chewed him down to $1,200 bucks under what he was asking...so it went for$16,800. I told him I would have given him more, and he said he was starting to get desperate because no one was calling him about it. More over, he told me that the guy who bought it was buying it for his 17 year old kid... I wanted to slap him right then and there; I don't think there isanything morefusterating than some spoiled teen grabbing a sick car to rip on and soon total, right before I could fork over my hard earned dough to begin my project for making a awesome setup for my girlfriend. Oh well... I suppose there will be others. The carfax was a great idea btw! I totally forgot about doing that.

I think I'm going to post up in the "wanted" section of the forums... as I sob gently...
2001.5 Nogaro Blue <62K no accidents, clean, clear title... Where are you?
