Default check for boost leak?

i have know real reason to believe i have a boost leak, but i would really like a way to know for sure that i dont. i know you can check by spraying carb cleaner around and the motor will rev up if there is a leak somewhere, is there downsides to this method? is there any more efficient ways to do so cause its a rather beat way of checking for a leak. thanks guys

You could try that, it works sometimes on vacuum leaks, only downfall as some boost leaks won't leak under vacuum pressures so it might not show up. probably the best way is to pressurize the system with air with ignition off and listen for leaks. There are tools for this or you can get creative. I put a 1 pint paint can in the accordian hose and applied air to pcv entrance into y pipe on top. it works just don't apply too much pressure, no more than what your normal boost pressure should be.
