Chemical fume smell from vent when AC's on
I'm in the process of getting my car back from getting the VC's fixed and since the weather's getting hotter I kranked on the AC. Obviously since I live in the VA area, it's just starting to get warm enough to have the need for AC. When I turned it on the other day...a nasty chemical fume smell entered the cabin and no cold air came out. Can anyone shed some light on this situation??? Vac line, condenser?? need to be recharged??? I'm on the fence with this one..I just don't know if the oil leak from the VC had anything to do with it...but I know the smell of burning oil and this smell wasn't it...any help will be greatly appreciated.

It might still be your valve cover gasket leak, I wouldn't be surprised...and if not possibly your cabin air filter.
Mine was black and when I changed it air in the car was much better.
If it is genuinely only when A/C is on then perhaps your compressor is seized or malfunctioning, possibly even giving offthe smell. If the A/C doesn't work at all, i'd say get that looked into first.
Good luck.

Thanks for the response, I'm going to get it looked at today, one audi tech said I could have blew my A/C evaporator...so the system will be looked at today...hopefully cool air for the car and me are in the future...real soon...getting a bit toasty in VA. Thanks again!
