Clutch Questions
I had an unorthodox solid hub disc with the lightweight flywheel. It held great when switching gears but launches were horrible, the thing slipped uncontrolably and the drivability sucked - felt like an on/off switch. Anyway I just changed the downpipes to the Labree MS ones as well as the Borla catback (sounds really good). Put it all back together (this time with the stock S4 clutch) and now it slips bad when the chip is on. I am going to change the clutch again but this is the last damn time!!!
Overall, I don't plan on going too high on the mods - I think the exhaust, APR chip, and flywheel are enough for my tastes on a daily driver (I have another car to go ballastic with). Therefore, I have a few questions that hopefully someone here could help me with:
1. Is the S4 and the RS-4 pressure plates the same with just a difference in friction material on the disc?
2. If the difference is mainly the disc (which most people are telling me), then will this last the longest as opposed to any aftermarket stage 2 or 3 clutches.
3. Does the lightweight flywheel have anything to do with my woes?
4. If the aftermarket ones are the ones to have, then what are the advantages or disadvantages of Ceramic vs Feramic?
Any help is appreciated!

I have the RS4 clutch and like it alot. It's almost broken in. By the way, are you slowly breaking in the clutch? I don't mean to ask stupid questions, but obviously you are supposed to break them in a little, at least 500 miles or so. I actually made my RS4 clutch slip in 6th at about 65 mph on the day it was installed, it has never happened since.
Mike and his guys use the RS4 clutch on thier test mule that is doing over 500 horse and torque and they love it.
Ask for Mike. He is the knowledgable one. He can answer all of your tech questions.

I use to have a Clutch Master Stage 3 puck with extreme pressure plate and 7 lb aluminum flywheel on a 01 Civic Si. I can chirp 5th doing 100!! But around town, the car sucked! When you change the flywheel, by taking the mass off, you lose alot of help from the inertia of the engine. I will never do that again for a street car, it was fun, but it was a PAIN! I will go with high pressure plate with street disc and stock flywheel.
