Honestly I just recommend saying with the OEM like vented rotors. For one they are much easier to resurface if needed and the cost are much lower. I've read in a couple of articles months back about some amateur rally team going back to oem like venter rotors after too many problems, and the increase maintenance cost with slotted and or drilled rotor setups. Makes sense in my mind when you would be going through rotors and pad very often. If you do notice the few car manufactures that use drilled rotors have very few holes on the rotor. Many of this aftermarket rotors make swiss cheese look solid. I'm just not sold on some of these aftermarket setups. Unless its brembo or stoptec which are both very expensive I would just say way from slotted or drilled rotors. If you really worried about braking spend the money on good pads. Thats just my $0.02

OK, so this is where the brake talk is. I started a thread today, "S8 rotor/pad advice" but not a hit yet.

I'm looking to upgrade my '01 S8 brakes. Anyone get better braking with just the addition of a better pad? I'm thinking Hawk HPS pads, but am open to other suggestions.

Also, those of you who changed to drilled/slotted/dimpled or combination of these, how did this affect your pad wear and what pads did you use?

I'm having a difficult time choosing between Brembo, EBC or Ultimate Braking rotor brands. Are these all about equal in quality and results? Should I consider something else?

MyS4.org, you posted while I was typing. Yeah, that's what I am thinking after staying up till 2a.m. doing research, but I do want more stopping power without having to warm up the pads - as its too late then.

i guess just buy a more aggressive pad. One thing to take in though, with a more aggressive pad you will need time to warm them up to operating temp. Pulling out of the drive way you might not be able to stop and hit the nice brick mailbox. DOH!
