Default drivers side turbo just started to make a faint whistle when under full boost

Hello all, i am new to the forums and i curently own an 98 a4 with 200,000 miles on it. I am looking at a 01.5 s4 with 87k on it. First of all the curent owner says that the, drivers side turbo just started to make a faint whistle when under full boost, what would cause this. this is the AD:

For sale is a 2001.5 Pearl White Audi S4. It has a 6 speed manual transmission, 89k miles, 9/10 Black leather interior with all options (6 disc CD changer), except navigation. The Pearl White exterior is in mint condition, it has no rock chips or dings. The car has the following modifications: AWE invent boost gauge, VAST Performance Boost controller, Greddy turbo timer, Forge Diverter Valves, Full Upgraded hose kit, ST fully adjustable coilover suspension, GIAC 93 octane chip, E-Code Head Lights, and CLK AMG 18x8 replica wheels. I just had the drivers side axle and valve cover gasket done within last 500 miles, and previous owner had timing belt changed at 76k miles, and also had the transmission rebuilt with new clutch installed. The only flaw with the car is that the drivers side turbo just started to make a faint whistle when under full boost. The turbo’s still pull hard and car still runs immaculate. I am asking $11,000 but I am willing to negotiate.
If serious please call to come see the car.

Is this a good deal, and what other mantainance is coming up with that milage

Sounds like a decent deal considering the mod's, and not to mention the rebuilt tranny (although it may be a sign that he wasn't delicate with the car). The turbo is probably going out so BOTH will need replacing if that's the case.

Other than that, he seems to have fixed a lot of common problems. Maybe look to make sure CV boots aren't torn, that the front control arms are in good condition, and if you can check the intercoolers for weak points in the plastic just to be safe

S4's are unpredictable and little things like sensors or actuators can go out whenever.

I talked to my mechinic and he said that with out turbos it would be about 2500 worst case to install them. To me that seems very high seeing how his labor rate is only 75$. Is 33 hours an unreasonable amount of time to change turbos?

my car was in the shop for 2 weeks when both my tubos were replaced..granted that was including waiting for the parts and arguing with my warranty company but it ended up costing 4500 total for brand new turbos and labor and all parts in between

You have to pull the motor out of the car to change the turbos.

33 hrs is much. id expect 22 or so.. i put my rs6 turbos on in my garage with no power tools in less than that time...but if your supplying all the parts maybe its a way they can make money.. for each bay they have to make a certain dollar per day.. he may just be figuring what that is and how much youll need to pay to cover it. .. idk...

its the impeller itself rubbing against the inside of the housing because the shaft is loose
