Default Evo VIII intercooler

A guy I work with has an Evo and it's up at Buschur right now getting some pretty nice upgrades (should run low 11's when he picks it up! He is getting cams, ported head, head studs, big turbo, etc..). He has offered to sell me the stock front IC for $80.00 so I'm wondering if it's a good option for doing a home made FMIC setup or if it will even fit behind an S4 bumper. Is it big enough to be worthwhile or should I pass?

Well since an EVO has 1 turbo and our cars have 2 it will not fit. To do a FMIC on an S4 you need a dual core intercooler like this:

At least I am pretty sure you can't. If you can run a single one I have never heard of one. LOL

I agree with these other guys in this thread. evo FMIC prob won't fit. look to an ebay or other FMIC out there. it's def a lot less hassle to get a right one that fits than a diff one that requires modifications.

Wouldn't be impossible to fab a Y-pipe before the intercooler, then run a single pipe from the IC to the throttle body, and wouldn't have to worry about a bi-pipe or boot. Can also use one diverter valve then. I'm just asking if it will fit, does anyone know from experience what the size is and if it would fit behind the S4 bumper?

I can't contribute anything more to this thread than what has already been said, but I thought I'd add that Im friends with a kid who has a gen 1 eclipse that was done at buscher racing. He does low-mid 9's on the quarter, and the car is a f****** beast. So buscher doesn't mess around

It will NOT work, & it's not big enough for the 2.7.
