I have Duh engineering FM and I love it. This one is cheaper but is smaller as well.

 

did you install the FMIC yourself? and if you did, what was the difficulty level like?

 

i heard bad things about the duh.. wasnt it something about not letting air get to the radiator actually overheating it..

 

i have been doing some reading up on intercoolers for this car. Basically, someone needs to step it up and finish a prototype already. I heard a couple companies have them in the works, forgot the names though. One is a vertical bar and plate i believe and the other is a horizontal. I would opt for the horizontal since I think it'll flow a little bit better, plus, cosmetically, it looks a hell of a lot better than those vertical i/c's. But on these DUH intercoolers, is anyone really going to pay 2k for an intercooler? How many people actually have it? Coming from supras, the most expensive intercooler is the greddy 4 row which is like 1700..and it's virtually unneccessary for most decent sized single kits.

I went to http://www.achtuning.com and on their product page they show a front mount intercooler for b5 s4. I'm not sure if that's the one that has issues with blocking air to the radiator, but that's another thing I don't get. On every car a front mount is installed, it is installed in front of the radiator with no issues. How much clearance is there up front that the intercooler has to be piggy backed right up against the radiator? I swear there's only a few inches between the radiator and fmic on my supra, but again, different car, don't mean to compare, but yea I haven't figured out why s4 i/c's are nowhere to be found...

On a side note, for those who had followed my supra owner to s4 thread, I should be picking up the s4 in about a week. Its the 2000 stage 2+ nogaro one in the FS forums here..just waiting on a phone call from the buyer and it's a done deal.

Also, take it easy on me if my questions/assumptions sound stupid. I'm still in the learning process with these cars

i remember one of the company's names that is releasing an FMIC soon as being "RaceTech" or "RaceTek" or somethin like that.

apparently it's not supposed to be too much $$....who knows

Supra.. glad to see you are stepping up.. i bet your going to bring a pretty good knowledge to the board (or at least a willingness to learn and bring in more knowledge)

To answer your question about that duh front mount. I honestly dont know..ive just heard some rumors about that..so it could for all purposes be just that..rumors. maybe people just quarrell cause they are so pricey.??

Anyways.. i cant remember which companies you are talking about.. i believe its asp if i remember correctly that is going with the vertical row (could be apr) i may have mentioned it way back when in one of our posts in your supra to s4 thread. But i agree..im trying to hold off a bit to see if any of these prototypes will pull through. I think a couple of these prototypes will be unveilied at waterfest out in nj in the coming days.. so hopefully not too long.
