G35 coupe to S4? Questions?
What's up fellas?
I currently own an 03 G35 coupe that i'm looking to trade in within the next month or so. I have my sights set on an 04 S4. I like the 04 body style more than 05+ for some reason.
One question though, i'm really not a fan of wood grain accents, i notice that majority of the used S4's all have woodgrain but i have seen just a couple with silver (polished?) accents. Were most built with woodgrain? or is it what i've seen aftermarket?
Also, is it me or does the S4 body style look more "clean" in dark colors rather than lighter colors?
Is the gas mileage THAT bad with the V8?
What are some known issues/problems with the 04's? And what can i expect as far as difference between my current car and the S4?
Thanks in advance, look forward to hearing some responses and joining the Audi family very soon.

i have an 04 s4 and first gas milage is good if your good,, so for me it sucks, my thing said 13mpg the other day but i was havin fun. other wise 18+ sounds about right. the only issue ive had with my s4 is the window motor breaking and i dought thats a common prob. other than that the car is freakin cool, and versatile as in rain is no prob, i accutally have fun trying to rip it loose,
hope you get it you wont regret it. and the silver trim is a fac option just not alot go with it.

2004 was a problem year for the S4, like all cars, the first year they are released is the year they will have the most problems off all the years within the body style. I'm not saying its bound to require maintenance but the a$$, just compared to the other B6 S4's it might tend to have a few more problems.
Main difference between the cars: one has 2 doors, the other has 4
. As for colors, I prefer eitherdark colors or a clean pearl white. I think Daytona Grey is the best color for a B6. I would say negaro blue but they change it a little between the B5's and B6's, B5 negaro is a lot nicer color than a B6 in my opinion.
With the S4 it will be a lot more expensive to maintain it because its a fine piece of german engineering, instead of Jap. It will also probably require a little more maintenance than the Infinity, once again because its german.
Overall you will not be disappointed in the S4 and you'll be a lot more unique than driving a G35, at least in my region.

the G35 is not cheap to service either... i work at an Infiniti dealer..... wow, parts are expensive
i have the silver trim in my 04 s4.... i love it... not feeling the wood either.... and i love the S4 in silver.. i think it really shows off the body.... more than a darker color.... but i do love the blue.....
i've had to replace my MAF and TPS.... good thing it was on warrenty.... but really wouldn't have been too bad since i am mechanically inclined...
you'l love the S4 compared to the G..... just get the milltek sport exhaust and enjoy the most beautiful throaty sound you'll ever hear..... plus the all wheel drive feels incredible and the power is always there in any gear at any rpm.... gotta love that 300+ lbs of torque at 3.5k
you won't be dissapointed for sure
good luck!

I love the wood trim in my S4. It's has an almost greyish hue to it as opposed to the warmer almost reddish tone the trim in my A4 has. I haven't seen the aluminum trim. I bet that looks good too.
I get about 18 around town if I don't hammer it and about 23 on the highway.

Don't let a bit of wood grain colour put you off. That can be fixed. As the others suggested, have a look around, and you will find some nice cosmetic mods if you don't like the wood grain.
The mechanical bits and electrical are what you need to worry about.
Consider getting an extended warrenty. Do the math and see what a bigger problem might cost to fix. The Audi warrenty would be coming up shortly. If you buy it at an authorised dealer, they may even throw in an extended warrenty on certain parts, if you bargain.
All the best whatever you get. Let us know what you decide on.

The Z350 and G35 don't seem to have Nissan part prices anymore....
Z, or Inifiniti prices = Nissan price x 2 + some there random number
In other words
Z, or Infiniti prices = unique prices for a unique car (Marketing speak!!!)
