General Control Arm Question
So ever since I bought my S, the front passenger wheel has always shook and vibrated a little while driving. Also I live on a dirt road and bumps cause the knocking noise. So I did some searching and found the upper rear control arm causing some slack. So I bought a new one and was wondering how hard they are to change? They don't look too bad but maybe I'm missing something. And also, has anyone done an alignment themselves? I plan on taking it to an Audi dealership but was wondering if I could possibly avoid the Stealership fees. Thanks guys.
Be wary man, control arms can be a bitch to replace. If you're just doing an upper, it won't be that bad. Doing ALL of them is a PITA.
Also, I'd avoid doing the alignment yourself. I'd advise against doing a 4-wheel alignment without access to a platform. On that note, the stealership can be pretty retarded sometimes when it comes to doing a 4-wheel alignment. My advice, go find a shop (if possible) that specializes in alignments. For example, there is one here in Denver called plus one that specializes in complex alignments and has been doing them for years. See if you can find something similar in your area.
