Default ------------General S4 Questions---------------

Couple questions about my 01 S4.

Does anyone use the ESP on their S4, does it realy help that much, and what exactly does it do?

Behind the center console where the rear ash tray is there is something for the transmission, well it has a transmision symbol on it at least, what is it? I was thinking its something for the center differential, I dont know.

Is anyone running a pre-oiler system on their S4?

What spring works the best in the Forge 007 DV, on a non-chipped stock S4?

There are no emission laws here, can I run no cats on my S4 without problems besides an anoying check engine light from the two o2 sensors. And what would I do with those o2 sensors, just run them into the straight pipe or what?

Good questions, All I can say is I leave the ESP off all the time. It is like Traction Control, making it hard to do what I like to do.
I would really like to know the answer to the cat question too. I will know on Monday and let you know if nobody does first.
Also I would like to know what that thing is near the rear ashtray too.
And I used the stock spring in my diverter valves when i got them.
My car is in the shop getting the KO4's put in and getting chipped, gotta figure what spring to use after that too.

Hope someone can answer these questions for ya, I would like to know too.

esp stands for "electronic stability program" if is a lot more the just tractions control. It could save your car or life if you ever get in a panic situation.

I had the chance, at an Audi training school with professional drivers, to see the difference of ESP on and off. They drove about 60mph and made a violent lane change, like a deer jumped in front of your or something. With ESP off the rearend came around and car was pretty much out of control (ended up going backwards). With ESP on, however, the car stayed in the lane where is was supposed to be and in control. It made a believer out of me.

ESP uses all kinds of sensors (yaw, turnrate, lateral accel, wheel speed sensors, brake/gas pedal position, ect) to know what you are trying to do and it corrects, via the brakes, to keep the car going the direction you are trying to go. It can't overcome the laws of physics, but its pretty damn close.
Hope this helps
