Getting a Stage III S4... what am I in for?
Ok so I have had an S4 for about a year now. Chipped, brakes, coilovers. I absolutely love the car, had no major problems just did a little preventative maintenance.
So, I am probably going to be trading my S4 and some cash for a Stage III S4. Its been stage 3 for 10k miles. Has the ASP kit (fueling, exhaust, ect....). What I want to know is this:
"What am I in for"? What kind of maintenance will I be doing? How often? How reliable are the stage 3 cars? Can anyone tell me first hand?
I want this car to be reliable and treat me well.
Thank you and I hope these questions also help out others,
Tony

Maintenance is pretty much the same as what your doing now,
just take care of your turbos (warm-up&cool-down) Find out what maintenance he has and hasn't done. Hopefully it has a good clutch so you won't have to change it anytime soon. Why is he trading???
Same intervals as before, and periodic boost leak checks don't hurt either.
Very reliable if you do your part. Of course you can't expect to drive it everyday and never have to fix anything, that's just the nature of the beast.
What, like in person?

I had a custom tune with my setup. It was good for 400whp on pump gas, which would equate to about 500chp. On race you will see some pretty good gains. However you can't really give an accurate power number, as every dyno reads differently.
I ran 23psi on pump gas.

I'm at about 150k on my car and it has been a stage 3 for about 5k. It runs about the same when you are just cruising around. I still get 25-28mpg on road trips. Once you have the setup dialed in the maintenance is about the same just keep up on your fluid changes and be nice to the car and make sure it is warmed up before it sees any boost and don't run it hard and turn it off right away. Good luck. Hope this helps.
