Default GIAC and MTM

So i was wondering if anyone had switched from giac to mtm chip set. i happened to pick one up on ebay with ecu for 300 so i am thinking of switching it out and still keeping my giac. I was wondering cause i know giac is very harsh and to the point. And from what i have heard mtm is super smooth. plus i am upgrade the chip to the 340hp for $100. Just wanted to know what people thought of mtm and will i like it or jsut keep it as a daily driver chip and giac for race.

I have MTM and it's very smooth. I kinda wish I had GIAC, but like you I got it cheap on Ebay in an already chipped ECU. I did notice that the idle is a little rough with the chip VS without. I just attribute it to a timing change. Overall I like the chip. It hits 20 psi peak and I get 29mpg on the highway cruising 70.

I'd be leary of buying a computer off ebay because what if it's been shorted or messed up? I mean yeah the price is great, 1/2 of what'd you pay for just the chip, but if it's a dud, you are still out the money.

I was looking at an APR chip for my new S4, and then I started thinking GIAC. But lately I think MTM will be best since my wife drives the car a lot and she won't want it to be jerky and brutal. If the MTM is fast and smooth power I think that's the best bet.

when you are driving the car easy, i'm not sure that anyone would see or know the difference between MTM and GIAC... so if the point of the chip is to have MORE power when you want it, then wouldn't it make more sense to go with GIAC?

Yeah that is why i have the giac still will 93 oct and 100 race gas. I did get the mtm today in the mail and i really like it. feels like stock but with endless power. it is very smooth like with the stock ecu, not the crazy power at once of giac. still love the giac for seat pinning power but i may just have to go mtm from here on out.

I'll look at my ECU to figure out the model, I would be interested in your GIAC

Hmm, which one makes more power though? Has anyone ever dyno'd stock, changed only the chip, dyno'd again, and then changed to another chip, and dyno'd again?

I'd like to see how the compare to each other with the same car and same dyno, preferably on the same day so we know that the only variable is the chip itself.
