Good Price For 2006 S4?
I just ordered a silver S4 with Alacantra interior loaded except for Parktronic and Cold Weather Package. To my surprise, the dealer accepted my first offer which was $2200 below MSRP, or $2000 above invoice. Anybody think I got a good deal? This will be my 1st Audi. I used to be a die-hard BMW fan until I test drove the S4.

When is your 2006 car supposed to be arriving? I am torn between an 06 and an 05, I am not sure I can wait.
Btw, is there any truth to the rumor that the 06 S4 is $10k higher than the past models? In other words, $60k and up?

You can only order a 2006. I actually wanted the 2005.5 because it was cheaper, had the wheels I wanted and had a 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel as an option. I got a 6-speed with every option except Parktronic Cold, Weather Package and the 4 spoke multifunction steering wheel and it came to $55770 MSRP which is significantly higher than a 2005.5 with similar options. My dealer did the math and it works out to 5-6k more for the '06. Granted there are a few things like Bluetooth and Voice Control that are not offered in the 2005.5, but it seems that Audi has increased prices overall. I am surprised by the prices people are getting considering it is a rare and relatively exclusive car (at least around here). I guess I could have bargained for lower, but the price seemed reasonable. If you look at websites like Kelly and Edmunds, the "real world" price is very close to MSRP. This could be because it is such a new car and there is little data to go off of. I was going to let USAA do the bargaining for me, but they told be I would probably be paying sticker, so I did it myself.
When the 05 and 5.5 came out, dealers still had 04s on the lot....so you might be able to find an 5.5 that has not sold yet. You may have to comprimise on color and options, but you can get a great price. Check out a few of the online car buying sites, dealers usually list these cars there. Thats how I found mine.
I agree, there are still some 2005.5's out there and you will probably be able to get a good deal on one. Depending on what options you want, there may not be any that meet your criteria. For example, I think there are very few if a nav system.
