Default Hello, looking into getting a s4

Hey people. I'm on my way to pick up a s4 2001.5 for about 18,889k with around 79k miles hopefully i can lower it some more this thursday.

I'm pretty excited about it but how is the reliability of the s4? Seems to be a noticable number of problem post and also by what I heard from others. I'm just hoping this is not true. Want to hear opinions of owners on the s4's reliablity.

For most performance parts are they the same as the A4? like springs, body kits, headlights, grille, and so on. Thanks. I can't wait to get my S4.

No unfortunatly the S4 is a completely different car from the A4. So no parts will fit

You have to look at reliability as.....do to it as you would want done to you. Dont jump on it all the time, give it frequent maintanence, bath it regularly. A car is going to last for as long as the owner wants it too.

Ohh boy I found another audi s4 that i rather have. It came out 3500 more than the one i was originally going to get but with 55k miles and a 2000 model. Its loaded with mtm parts, already lowered, and replaced turbos so i don't have to worry about the turbos going out.

brand new turbos.
RS$ clutch $750
MTM 350 HP kit $6990
Stainless steel downpipes
Stainless steal high flow metallic catalytic converters
Stainless steel MTM exhaust system (front pipe, center resonator, rear muffler)
MTM Software
Bosch 5.0 bar fuel pressure regulator.
Abt/Bilstein Sport spring and Shock package $1450
MTM 15mm wheel spacers $270
Window tinting $187
Smoked Tail lights $250
Bosch sport bypass valves $70
Bosch high performance plat spark plugs $90
MTM Sport Y (TBB) $125
MTM Sport F Pipe $69
MTM Sport turbo silicon hose set $395
UUC short shifter (stock included)

What you guys think 24k.

I'm worried about it passing the smog though with the new strict dyno like smog check. How do you guys with simular mods pass the smog? Should it be okay? I hope so. I don't want to ask my friend or step dad for a smog hookup. I don't know if they can hook me up.

I was told by my smog guy that if the car was too low to go over the rollers than you get 2 year waiver. This step can be repeated as many times as needed.

Also, if you have not added fuel injectors or added to the duty cycle then you should be ok. Just drive it pretty "spirited" before you get there. Lean is bad for everyday engine but the smog test likes a lean condition. Less noxious gas is being spent into the air.

At my dealership we only have a 2 wheel dyno anyawy so we only do 2 speed ilde tests one is at idle for like 1 minute and the onther one is at like 3000rpm for like a minute lol its great my old integra was to low to go onto the dyno so they had to do that test i've never seen a car fail the 2 speed idle test

When buying a modded car its always good to ask yourself this question....."If this was my car, and i modded it this way, how would i have driven it?"

I have had several friend pick up some nice "whips" that were modded out but they turned out to be ragged out even tho they ran and looked great. That car may be a time bomb waiting to go off. just fair warning from a friend.....

Yeah im agree with a4 R6 wku, thats a pretty heavily modded car. All depends on how he drove it and took care of it.
