Help me choose my destiny
I want a B5.
But, i want it to be a 11s 1/4 miler daily driven snow winter reliability with the lowest fuel cost with less expensive mods
.
I know im asking a lot but at least i know what i want so id really appreciate your help/opinon please.
My choice:
B5A4 1.8T = 3250 Lbs
Horsepower: 150 hp Max Horsepower: 5700 rpm Torque: 155 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 1750 rpmEPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway) Manual: 22 mpg / 29 mpg http://www.edmunds.com/used/2000/audi/a4/869/specs.html
(but it seems a lot)
Some mods :
ATP Turbo gt28rs
From: http://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/release041205.htm
Further testing resulted in a much quicker GT28RS turbo on a 1.8T engine, at least by 300 rpm faster than any other off the shelf GT28RS turbo driven by an aftermarket manifold on the original T25 flanged turbine housing.
And the rest is butter! The GTRS even in the bolt-on combination has no problem extracting close to 350 Crank HP @ 22 psi of boost on the otherwise stock engine.
Other mods :
APR chip
1997-99.5 A4 1.8T 200hp/243lb-ft
I think the A4 would be the best choice for lowest fuel consumption but i think im still far from the 11s even with the upgraded Turbo.

B5S4 2.7TT = 3600 LBS
Horsepower: 250 hp Max Horsepower: 5800 rpm Torque: 258 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 1850 rpmEPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway) Manual: 17 mpg / 24 mpg
Some mods:
APR KO4s
From http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/stage3_27tko4.html
This ultimate turbo system upgrade is now available for the 2.7T cars. This kit is capable of 447 horsepower and 467 foot-pounds of torque at the flywheel on 93 octane gas, while retaining stock-like drivability.
Other mods:
APR chip
2000-02 S4 2.7T 307hp/366lb-ft
Maybe the S4 with 2 KO4s will be close to 11s but i wonder how many KM or MILES i can get on a tank.

I know their is ALOT more mods than that to come with, ie: IC, fuel pump, injectors...(...)
But IMO the best HPs for $$s come from Turbo and Chip (including kit needed to installation)
So feel free to add personally known informations or lived facts that could help me do the best choice for me.
Thx a lot !!!!!!

I have nothing to say about the 1.8t i have no experience with them. A4 forum should have plenty of info.
You would chip a car with stock turbos. Once you get k04's you either get stage 3- programming (if you dont have fueling) or use an OTS tune/get a custome tune (if you have fueling). If your replacing the turbos forget the chip and just put the $500 of chip money into fueling because once you go stg 3 the chip gets tossed out. That APR K04 kit comes with fueling and software too if you didnt know. Its expensive in comparison to other k04 kits because it includes RS4 parts. (by comparison AWE is $5500)
You can run 11's in a b5s4 but be beyond that $8000 APR kit your going to need a new clutch, AWE/ER intercoolers or a FMIC, and a turbo-back exhaust (downpipes and cat back). All of which is another $4000+. If your starting from scratch you should do the timing belt and wp before stage 3 and youll probably run into at least a few other things along the way (motor mounts, various maintinance stuff). The b5 is an expensive car to maintain and modify but its also a beast.
You might want to consider buying an S4 that is already stage 3. You can usually find the history of a stage 3 car, and while you dont get to build it yourself its much less expensive and you know things like timing belt have been done. As far as MPG that depends on how you drive, maybe 300 miles / tank tops with stage 3. If your thinking about MPG youve at least got some sense in you. Keep in mind an 8 year old 400 whp car isnt the most relyable, and because its an audi its not cheap either.

Thx HP, I thought about getting one already modded but with a clean hystory but in my area (canada) their really rare . Some has exhaust, intake, chip...but i havent seen one turbos modified...
Ya mine was stage 2 (chip, exhaust) when i got it too. Its just for piece of mind, buy the car you like most.
the auto/tips can handle power just fine. Nothing to worry about even if you were to get new turbos. however...6-speed manual is faster.

stage 3 getting about 21-24 mpg, mixed driving city (stop and go)and highway(60-70 mph). guessing between 450-480chp. This has been over roughly 700easy drivenmiles.
1/4 times (guessing) high 11's - low 12's.
food for thought.

oh nice numbers...
)
edmunds.com gave 17-24 mpg stock (?)
So if you are really getting 20-24 with stage 3, its something i could live with...
10-15 would have been a bit too crazy for me...
