Thats the stasis website with the product listing. I plan on buying that diff. after or around the same time as k04's. If nothing else it could make my car a little more fun through the twisties and ruining tires in those big empty parking lots.

My audi mechanic told me it was a 40/60 driveline and is the only true quattro (awd)out compared to evo and wrx sti. With that said I'm, pretty sure I trust his opinion.

Well, according to the Wikipedia article, our B5s are 50/50 all of the time, until wheel slippage occurs. Audi re-tuned Quattro in the B7 RS4s to provide a 40/60 split, as opposed to the "traditional" 50/50 so it feels more like a RWD car (main competition is BMW, so they wanted to provide the BMW "feel")

My uncle owns a shop and is a mechanic in NYC and I know more car statistics than he does. Even if my uncle worked with Audi's every day, there is still very little chance that a topic like "torque split" would ever come up, even if extensive repairs are needed.

I also wish mechanics would stay quiet about things they have no idea about. I'm willing to bet that your mechanic has never seen or read anything about the Evo VIII AWD system. It is MUCH more advanced than quattro is, and is "true" AWD just as much as quattro is, whatever that means. If by "real quattro" your mechanic means that it's a mechanical system that is always engaged and isn't hampered by many electronics, then yes, quattro is true AWD. The system in a Lancer Evo VIII/IX, however, can split torque between individual axle's and side to side with Mitsubishi's "Super Active Yaw Control", which gives the driver even more control of where power is distributed. In some circumstances, the Lancer Evo could effectively be driving in 1-wheel drive because of the way torque is split.

Basically, the system in the Evo is more advanced than quattro is. Quattro is still a very adequate and very good system, but this "quattro is the most advanced AWD system in the world" nonsense that some people spread around has got to stop.
