HELP NO BOOST!! just installed FMIC
Hey so i just installed my racetec fmic kit, and i did 3-4 full throttle runs to test it out. it was driving great and as i turned around on the onramp to head home, i realized i couldnt build any boost. the car drove fine other than the fact that it was very slow because i could only get up to 0 psi and 0 vac. However, the car idled fine, drove fine etc, i just couldnt build boost. I got home and checked the piping (not throughly enough so ill do more tomorrow) but the hoses seemed nice and sturdy. pulling into my driveway just now however, i would hear a rattle if i revved it, and sort of a clunk-clink if i was just driving slow. Could someone help me out please??
Either you have a boost leak some where, a hose popped off, or your in limp mode.
Or a combination of the two.
Since you just installed the FMIC, I would start there & work you way back, it never hurts to go over all the hose clamps after a few drives.

ok so i checked every hose clamp, and they are all fine, so i decided to ditch the MDC and TDC incase the computer wasnt liking them (last night was the first night i ran the car HARD with them) So i started the car up, and i heard a terrible rattling whenever i gave the car a hint of throttle, my first thought was the my turbos were blown and the rattling was from either the bearings or the turbine blades. So i drove cautiously up to my friends garage that specializes in audi vw and had him listen to the sound. At first he was puzzled because it sounded like a heat shield rattling yet there were none that were loose/rattling. i then told him i lost all boost after i did a couple runs on the highway, yet on the way home it still drove fine (cept it had no ***** at all) and had perfect vaccum and idle. So he came to the conclusion that the pin for the wastegate rod had broke/disconnected. This would cause perfect normal driving charecteristics yet when i gave it throttle it wouldnt go because the wastegate was malfunctioning, and it would also cause the strange rattle (wastegate rod flopping around)
i think the intercooler had nothing to do with it, it was just coincidence it happened right when i installed the fmic. well see what happens, its going in for timing belt service on thursday, so im letting it sit until then and once its in the air ill have my friend do a thorough inspection
There's nothing fun about doing your own installs, just headache![:@]
I will not be doing anything more to my car personally, I'm trying to get a job working at a friends car stereo/car mod shop; parts and labor at cost++ (the plus' being professionals and no headache and no hating my car).
