Default hit a deer

so i hit a deer the other night going to a friends house, sucks! hit the deer with the passenger side bumper just barley but the roads were wet so it spun the car out and ran into a dirt embankment at 25mph, bumper is toast, fogs gone, head light washers gone, driver and passenger side fenders gone, right front tire toast, rim exploded, can runs and drives still, hood wont open, head lights not aligned, its going to the body shop tomarrow, its getting towed from a friends house where it happened near, talk about shitty situation, insurance is covering it but man it sucks. i was just curious what yall thought the estimate would be, i know its going to be a couple of grand in just body work, i dont know if the suspension got hurt as the rim took alot of force to it, im just glad it didnt go threw the windshield. makes me want to go hunting now lol

wow, cant believe it spun you out, I know it was wet but what tires? I also have close calls with deer all the time here in PA, might want to get yourself some 6000k headlightsas another precaution even though they don't always stand there and sometimes jump out. Less than 3000 for the repair I would say.

Alittle side story...I know a guy who had an unproductive hunting season about 10 years ago (or maybe it was longer...time flies). On the very last day he hit this nice buck on his way home. Hethought "what the heck"and put a hunting tag on it. It's mounted on his basement wall [sm=smiley26.gif]

estimate is up to 3000k with out taking things off, every thing in involved with the bumper is getting replaced, new fenders, hood(maybe) foglights, right front tire, rim, shock, ect. there pulling things apart this after noon and then well have the final estimate, there also going to paint the front doors to make it match.

car is a lump of metal with a driver, deer is an animal with a mind ( is the car to blame or the driver or both ) be careful next time it could be a human ( I have a few to list when your not busy )

I'd blame the deer. Same friend as the story above was out hunting. Walking to his stand he saw a group of deer running accrossthe field. He yelled STOP! And a few did so BOOM meat on the table. The first thing a deer does when it doesn't know which way to run is stop. Not only that but the phrase "deer in the headlights" is absolutely accurate. When blinded they freeze up or hesitate (which is why hunting with a spot light is illegal). And lastly I'll be the time between the deer being illuminated by the headlights and impact was less than a second and a half.

to be all human is to be all seeing and that's a laugh I think the deer has a better chance if it doesn't see a human and they do that well
