how to tell if my ecu is upgraded
so i finally have my s4 running and today when i changed the o2 sensor i took off the engine cover and it hit me that i have an apr bipipe installed in the s4, kinda made my day but it got me thinking maybe more is done to the car, is there a way to tell if my ecu has been upgraded without bringing it somewhere, im looking to buy a chip soon and if it already has one id like to know.
but that is not a sure way to tell, because if the previous owner took it to an apr dealor they just flash the ecu, they dont replace the actual chip...
to the poster, boost guages are like 20 bucks at advance autoparts, go get one and hook it up. you can't even take it anywhere to check except to a local tuner that does the flashes.... all the chips are shielded so that a dealor can't even tell if it is chipped

being chipped disnt nessicarily meaning having a chip either. You can just have your ECU reflashed in which case you would never know by looking.
If you have APR (youve got the apr bipipe) than try holding in your cruise controll button at the end of the stalk (make sure the switch for cruise controll on the side of the stalk is on not off) You have to hold it down for 5 or so seconds but If your CEL flashes 1ce per second 3 times than you have APR programming and you just put yourself into another mode (stock, 93 octane, 100+ octane, valet)
Seriously boost guage is your best bet.
