from what I understand...BOV venting to atmosphere is venting
metered air... It all depends on where the BOV / DV is located
in relation to the MAF sensor..

so yes - system would run rich if i understand correctly...

dude... this is definitely a dead horse (more like dog food by now). I would advise you to STFA and the other forums, because there has been pleanty of discussion on the subject. In fact, there is a current thread on AZ right now if you'd like some more info:

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130317

The bottom line is that Audi's (and VW's) aren't designed like Japanese cars; they are closed-circuit systems. You might be able to run a BOV for a little whileand it sounds "great" (IMHO they're g-bage and theytake away from the class of the S4), but the chances are you will have problems unless you are running K04's orusing other "fixes" to make 'em work.

Why don't you go & spend the $800 on the BOV & let us know how they work out for you.

Just to let you know theres still a bunch of a japanese engines that prefer DV's as apposed to BOV.... one of which being the STI's and i knowfor a fact that older turbo MR2's are just like AUDI/VW and should runn DV's....

So saying just audi and vw isnt correct... Every factory turbo car that has a DV in place is meant to have a DV because of the way the engine and A/F ratio is tuned to.... Something like a SRT4 has a factory BOV so form the factory it is tuned to have a BOV so changing it to something else is fine.....

So here we gooo sticky THIS!

You CAN have a BOV in your B5 Audi S4 , however it will require you going to have a custom tune because the A/F ratio will be running rich (of fuel) if you dont.
However after tuning it for a BOV you in turn will be putting more stress on your turbos because they will have to re spool all that air that was just lost.

And for the next person that asked were they can go for a tune to get a BOV put on..... IDK call around and see who will custom tune your S for you and dont be surprized when alot of people wont.
