Ideas on geting more power without ko4
I know most people are going to try to offer a feasible way to get/make K04's work, but this is a great topic for those of us that don't feel like pulling an engine right now. Any other ideas? What about honda or V8 tricks, raising compression, or cams or something? I obviously have no idea, just trying to get the creative juices flowing.
I tend to agree with sweed on this.
The k03's can only make so much boost and cfm at some point you really do run into a "wall".
Intercoolers would give you a little power because the intake air will be cooler (water injection is like chemical intercooling) , piggy pipes to an exhaust cutout would do a little to free up exhaust flow so you might spool faster and make a little more power. But really the best bang for your buck: GIAC-x chip + MBC + TCD. You can spike the k03's to higher boost than with a stage 2 chip. I assume the fueling would be just about at its limit too.
Race Gas. (nuff said)
I cant say enough about weight. The less you have the faster youll go. Rotational mass (wheels, tires, rotors, driveshaft, etc) counts alot more than sprung weight so some light 17" wheels and new rotors up front will make a difference in speed and handleing. Seats are heavy as hell too, put her on a diet!

You could always do 2.8 heads and cams. A lot of work for install though. You can usually find a set for 800-1000

Really... where could one find more information about this?

The best cams and heads for the k03's are stock IMO. Yeah 2.8s have bigger exhaust ports and the cams are supposed to help with top end IIRC but thats all useless unless you have bigger turbos that make more power! A bigger turbo (GT's) will spool slower and have a powerband higher up in the RPM's, thats where the better flowing heads and longer duration cams come in. They are also producing more volume at a greater PSI higher up in the RPM's. Anyone know if youd need a re-tune after swapping heads and cams? You also have to get your Intake manifold ported to match the heads...
The point being, shortly after stage 2 the turbos are the limiting factor. Period. If you want to upgrade thats where you should be looking, even if its just piggy pipes and a stage 3- on stock intercoolers.
If your intrested in modding, the basics are a chip and exhaust. If you want much more power than that the turbos are whats holding you back, followed by fueling (duh). Next new intercoolers and downpipes bring IAT's down and free up wasted HP. Thats a full Stage 3 kit there; that with a custom tune can do 400whp. Now if you still want more theres bigger turbos, Hybrid turbos, RS6's, Tials, Garretts, or even do something original like someone on AZ who im pretty sure is using mitsubishi turbos. Noticing a trend here? To get more power you get a bigger turbo and the supporting mods. If you get just the supporting mods and not the turbos too then your old turbos are still holding you back!
Yes there are many many many things you can do to an engine to make it more efficient and make more power, but show me another option that will provide the same results for the money.

I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!! IV FOUND THE ANSWER! ONLY $70 and a 25% increase in HP, that means with a chip and exhaust this will bring you up to 415 CHP!
It REALLY works!
