I am looking into buying a 2005 s4, but I don't know if I want a B6 or a B7. I like the rear end of the B6 better, but the B7 front looks a more aggressive with the headlights and bigger grill. The B6 on the other hand has really nice curves in the front and looks very elegant and classic.

I like both, but I don't know if I will regret getting a B6 if a new revamped body style (ex. B6 to B7, not so much B7 to B8) comes out within the 5 years that I would be paying for a B6. I would be 2 body styles behind, but if I got a B7 I would be 1 behind.

What are your takes on this subject? What body style do you like better?

 

B6's are rare, only 2 years of S4's. Personally I'm a sucker for the B5, not so much because of the body, but because of the potential of the engine. The 4.2L lacks aftermarket upgrades where as the 2.7t has unlimited potential.

 

so you are saying buy the model car because of the model and not the future of the model on the idea of newer models coming out and making your's seem older? What is your take on the B7 vs B6 S4 and how do you feel about newer models/styles coming out ahead of your car? I really like the B6, but don't want it to seem like it's getting old, but on the other hand, I do like the B6 in ways better than the new models (B7+) so new models ahead of a B6 wouldn't matter in ways.

New models ahead my car sometimes just gets to me a little almost like the newer model style is better just because its newer when the outside is the only thing different. I don't like the fact the new s4's will be 3.0t. The v6 will not have the growl that the 4.2L v8's have.

I just don't know!

 

I personally like the B6's looks much more than the B7, But the thing is that the B7 is newer and in a couple years the B6 will look even older. iF its only a matter of like 5k i would bump it up a notch to the B7 but if its more than that i would get the b6(in Imola Yellow for sure) B7(black). B7 has newer characteristics like the one piece grill that audi uses on all their cars now. B6 does not so think about it. It is all on you but i vote for B7.

 

It's all a matter of taste but I like the B7 looks more.

love the B7's looks, sexy as they come.. not crazy about the small amount of substantial upgrades that can be done for the engine... ive got a B5 that doesnt look near as sweet as the B7, but ive got a car that hopefully will run low 12's high 11's in the quarter.. and still have the drive-ability of a 4 door family sedan... so what is the most important for you?? if i was making a choice between the B6 or B7, id definitely go B7.. the looks make it that much more special i think..

 

i saw a black on black b6 s4 with black and chrome lipped wheels on CL the other day and i went from 6 to midnight..i love b6's wayyy more than b7's based on looks alone. im the opposite though. i love the b6 front end and the b7 rear end. engine wise i love turbos... if i didnt need an suv i'd totally scoop up that b6
