Default Importing a new S6 from US to Canada

Hello all.....I live in Alberta, Canada and want to import a 2007 Audi s6 (new) from a Phoenix dealership. Has anyone done this type of thing before and can share their experience?....one dealership I spoke with (in Montana) said they can only sell to US residents?...I would think there is a (legal) procedure for this, assuming I am prepared to pay the necessary fees/duties and taxes. Looking for input and appreciate your feedback

I dont know for a new car, but for a used one i've experienced once. You will have to pay
federal tax + provincial tax + 6.5% tax since the car was built in another country than US or CAN.
You may experience some problems with you warranty. You will need you're car to be transport
up to CAN customs since you can't drive it till there (insurance problem since your not a US citizen and didn't have a US adress). You're car will need a federal inspection in order to meet canadian standards such as: day running lights, child seats hookups... Im not sure you will save $$$ by doing this at all. Be ready to spend long hours of scratching your head and make phone calls to get throught it. Try to buy localy or if no cars are availlable try other provinces it will be far more simple.
Good luck !

Thanks for your input, I may indeed buy local, but of course the $$ savings will be likely in excess of $20k, which would make it worthwhile, despite the grief and excessive amount of paperwork...I will continue to investigate and see what happens....thks.
